Crypto Exchange Fee Comparison 2026
Binance, OKX, Bybit, Coinbase and Kraken fees compared side by side. Register with SHZB888 and pay 20% less on every spot and futures trade.
1. Spot fee comparison (standard VIP 0)
| Exchange | Maker (limit) | Taker (market) | With referral code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Binance | 0.1000% | 0.1000% | −20% on all |
| OKX | 0.0800% | 0.0800% | — |
| Bybit | 0.1000% | 0.1000% | — |
| Coinbase | 0.4000% | 0.6000% | — |
| Kraken | 0.1600% | 0.2600% | — |
Maker (limit) means you place an order on the book and wait for it to fill. Taker (market) means you take liquidity immediately. Maker fees are always lower — see how to reduce Binance fees for the full breakdown.
2. Futures fee comparison (standard VIP 0)
| Exchange | Maker | Taker | Funding rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Binance | 0.0200% | 0.0500% | Floating, settled between longs and shorts |
| OKX | 0.0200% | 0.0500% | Floating |
| Bybit | 0.0200% | 0.0550% | Floating |
| Coinbase | 0.0600% | 0.0600% | Floating |
| Kraken | 0.0200% | 0.0250% | Floating |
Futures also involve funding fees — you either pay or receive them from the counterparty. Over long holds this can cost more than the trading fee itself.
3. Binance VIP tier fee table
| VIP tier | 30-day volume (USDT) | Spot maker | Spot taker | Futures maker | Futures taker |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIP 0 | < 10,000 | 0.1000% | 0.1000% | 0.0200% | 0.0500% |
| VIP 1 | ≥ 10,000 | 0.0900% | 0.0900% | 0.0165% | 0.0450% |
| VIP 2 | ≥ 50,000 | 0.0800% | 0.0800% | 0.0150% | 0.0400% |
| VIP 3 | ≥ 250,000 | 0.0700% | 0.0700% | 0.0135% | 0.0350% |
With referral code SHZB888 every row above drops by another 20%. So VIP 0 spot taker at 0.1% becomes an effective 0.08%.
4. Which one should you pick?
Newcomer / small volume
Binance with SHZB888. The widest asset list, beginner-friendly tutorials, low fees, and Earn products for idle balances.
High-frequency / large futures volume
Check your VIP tier first. Binance VIP 3 futures taker is 0.035%, or about 0.028% with the referral discount.
Spot only, lowest rate matters
OKX spot maker at 0.08% is slightly lower, but weigh asset coverage and withdrawal fees.
Based in the US, compliance first
Coinbase costs clearly more, but it is the most fully regulated and has the most complete KYC.

Rates are only part of the cost
The tables above compare trading fees, which is the right starting point but a narrow one. The number that decides whether an exchange is cheap for you is the all-in cost of a round trip: fee in, fee out, plus the spread you cross on both sides, plus whatever the network charges you to move the money in or out.
To make that concrete, here is the all-in cost of a $5,000 round trip — buy $5,000 and sell it again — at the standard tier, using the referral rate where Binance is concerned and assuming a 0.1% spread on both sides for the market orders.
| Exchange | Buy fee | Sell fee | Spread (both sides) | Total cost | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Binance with code | $4.00 | $4.00 | $10.00 | $18.00 | 0.36% |
| Binance without code | $5.00 | $5.00 | $10.00 | $20.00 | 0.40% |
| Bybit | $5.00 | $5.00 | $10.00 | $20.00 | 0.40% |
| OKX | $5.00 | $5.00 | $10.00 | $20.00 | 0.40% |
| Kraken | $6.50 | $6.50 | $10.00 | $23.00 | 0.46% |
| Coinbase | $30.00 | $30.00 | $10.00 | $70.00 | 1.40% |
Three things worth noticing. First, the spread is often the single largest line item — at these sizes it exceeds the trading fee on every exchange. Using limit orders instead of market orders is what removes it, and that decision is worth more than the exchange choice. Second, the referral code shows up as $2 on a $5,000 round trip, which is real but not transformative at this size — it becomes transformative as volume rises. Third, Coinbase's headline fee is not comparable to the others because its simple-buy path applies a wider spread on top of the stated fee, so the true cost is higher than the table suggests.

When to choose a different exchange anyway
The table above is the wrong tool for some situations. There are legitimate reasons to pick an exchange that is not the cheapest on fees, and pretending otherwise is not useful advice.
- Binance does not operate in the United States, and is restricted in several other jurisdictions. If you are in a restricted region, no fee comparison matters — the table on this page simply does not apply to you. Availability is a hard gate.
- Some countries have local licensing rules that make only certain exchanges usable, and among those, some banks will only allow transfers to specific ones. Check what your bank supports before you optimise anything else.
- If you trade mostly one pair at high volume, the liquidity and depth on that specific pair matter more than the headline rate. A slightly higher fee on a deep market can execute better than a lower fee on a thin one.
- If you need specific features — particular staking products, a specific fiat on-ramp, OTC desk access, or a jurisdiction-specific listing — availability of that feature can outweigh a fee difference.
- If you plan to hold for years rather than trade, fees are a rounding error and account security, withdrawal availability and regulatory standing should decide it.
The right sequence is: first confirm which exchanges you can legally and practically use, then check whether the pair you care about has good liquidity there, then compare fees among the remaining options. Doing it in that order avoids optimising the wrong variable.
Frequently asked questions
Which exchange has the lowest fees overall?
Among spot exchanges at the standard tier, Binance, Bybit and OKX are effectively tied at 0.10% for both maker and taker, and Binance is cheapest once the referral rate applies. Kraken sits slightly higher and Coinbase is several times higher. The ranking depends entirely on your volume and on whether you trade futures.
Is a lower fee rate always better?
No. A lower fee can be outweighed by a worse fill, a wider spread, or a slower withdrawal. For small volumes, liquidity and execution quality dominate. For large futures volume, the taker rate is what matters. Pick the exchange that fits how you actually trade, not the one with the smallest printed number.
How do I know these rates are current?
Each guide shows the last-reviewed date, and we re-check the published schedules regularly. Exchange fee tables change without notice, so confirm against the exchange's own official fee page before trading, especially before a large trade.
Does the Binance referral rate apply to the other exchanges in this table?
No. A referral code is specific to the exchange that issued it. SHZB888 applies to Binance only. The other columns show their standard published rates with no discount.
What about deposit and withdrawal fees?
Those are set by the blockchain network rather than the exchange, so they are broadly similar across all of them — and none of them is affected by a referral code. The one lever you have is choosing a lower-cost chain.
